"And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth" Genesis 9:16
It is the goal of Der Reggeboge Freindschaft (The Rainbow Fellowship) to be a virtual home in cyberspace for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender members of the Pennsylvania German community, standing firmly behind the God-given right of all people to be who they were created to be.
Balancing and reconciling traditional Christian values as taught by Pennsylvania German cultural religious groups and recognizing the reality of sexual diversity, the aim of this blog is to express Christian love and acceptance for GLBT people and to share that the Creator’s Love and Acceptance of them transcends the rejection and prejudice sometimes experienced from organized religion.
Posts and comments should be uplifting and strengthening, helping each person recognize self-worth and validity in the face of possible cultural or familial rejection for being GLBT. Personal testimonies, spiritual songs, poetry, photographs and art are all helpful forms of expression. Articles may address specific topics regarding history, religion, culture and social issues that relate to the experience of sexual minorities within and coming from Conservative and Old Order Christian subcultures like the Amish, Mennonite, Hutterite, Brethren, and Quaker traditions.
It is my hope and prayer that through this blog, enlightenment, help and encouragement may come to individuals who may be experiencing trauma or discouragement as a GLBT person coming from a Pennsylvania German or sectarian background.
In Der Reggeboge Freindschaft, spirituality, love of God, and practical Christian living are seen as completely compatible with same-gender sexual expression.
Der Reggeboge Freindschaft is committed to honoring all people as created beings possessing ‘that of God’ within them, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnic origin.
